Isn't this a question most women ask themselves each time they look in the mirror? I know several times myself have overlooked it during the winter months only to come around to swimsuit season to find out not only have I slacked on my workout program, but also my ability to keep cellulite off my lower body. Here's some cellulite information to take to heart...
It exists on every woman, normally getting worse as we age. We cannot control its existence because it's true causes range from genetics to hormone levels to age, diet and level of exercise activities. But do we have to live with it? Can it be cured?
Well, the good news is it can be fought and its appearance reduced. There are several ways to combat cellulite. These include over-the-counter topical treatments (lotions, gels and creams), herbal remedies, endermologie treatments, healthy diet and a comprehensive exercise/fitness program that includes aerobic and anaerobic activities (running, walking, weightlifting).
There are varying levels at which each of these methods will help to relieve the body of cellulite and it is important to remember that no particular type of regimen here alone will make cellulite disappear. Each of the above mentioned should be used in partnership as they all contribute to making cellulite's appearance look less noticeable.
For example, the foundation of your program should always start with a healthy diet that includes, lean meats, vegetables, healthy fats and eliminates heavy starches such as pasta, potatoes and rice in large quantities. You should also keep caffeine, sugar, salt and processed foods to a minimum, if not eliminate them from your diet if possible.
The next important step is exercise. I cannot stress enough that having some form of fitness in your life is not only crucial to keeping the body heart healthy, but truly does make a difference in reducing the lumps and bumps that store on the hips, thighs and butt. A good program will always include some sort of cardiovascular activity such as running, walking, biking, etc. for fat burning and something to tone up the underlying muscles (weights). Remember, the more muscle you are able to build underneath, the more fat you will burn.
To complement your diet and fitness program there are several options available. Each in and of themselves work well to reduce cellulite on problem areas, however, these alone must be repeated consistently in order to keep the results working. This includes:
- Cellulite creams, lotions or gels (with massage techniques)
- Endermologie or Skin Brushing
- Herbal Supplements
You may wish to experiment to see which is best and most affordable for you.
The bottom line on how to get rid of cellulite is to be committed to a healthy diet and lifestyle while incorporating some form of technique into your anti-cellulite program.
